This is Leslie, one of our knowledgeable about weaving and spinning volunteers. We received a pillowcase full of pale blue fleece (it's in that basket) and next week Leslie is going to bring in her spinning wheel and show the clients (and me) how to turn fleece into yarn. I will be sure to take photos!
This is Marcella, a librarian for a high school here in Philadelphia. She comes when there is a Friday off and she came today. Thanks Marcella!Below: one of our clients is being creative with short rows.

Above: this will be a baby blanket. Below: one of our newest knitters learned how to purl and is making her very own design.
Above: one of our outpatient clients balled a lot of bits and pieces of sock yarn and is going to keep going and going and we will see how the socks turn out.
Above: She is making a scarf with the same yarn as the hat. We are going to have a sweater workshop with Lucia and the requirement is that you complete the above knit and purl hat. She did it and is going to move on to the sweater. Stay tuned. Below: This same lady asked her children their favorite colors and she is going to combine squares of their favorite colors into a blanket for each of them.
Above: a beautiful scarf and below is a photo of a little case that a new knitter made to wear around her neck so she doensn't lose things.

Above: Lucia, our volunteer, is making an over the head scarf and below, Zelphia, is showing the clients her newly knitted socks.

Happy New Year! During our past group some of our knitters talked about finishing projects as a way to start the new year. Great idea! When we went around the group we talked about how knitting has helped each of us. It is inspiring to hear what each person has to say. We have received much beautiful yarn and sometimes we receive notes and stories. We appreciate hearing knitting stories, hearing about places near and far, and hearing about what other people like to knit. Our new knitters can now have the opportunity to pass it on just as it is being passed on to them.
