June 17 and June 24, 2009

Good bye, good luck, best wishes to Heather our student intern who was with us through the school year and worked with us through the summer. We loved having her with us in the knitting group. Please visit us Heather! and please stay in touch!

Here is Heather with our volunteers this week.

A very cool poncho!

Another of our clients with a different poncho.

And here she is again in her periwinkle poncho.

Here is a blanket with lots of yarns.

Here is a handbag.

These crocheted blankets are beautiful.

Zelphia is talking with the clients about her latest project and below we have Jamar and Allison who come to teach the new knitters.

This is a ball of bits and pieces of yarn.

And our socklady is back. While recuperating she knitted many pairs of socks as you can see:

Linda, our nurse, above.

June 26, 2009

This is Linda, our nurse, showing us her latest project. One of our knitters finished a beautiful poncho. I think she might be starting a poncho trend.

Here is Zelphia, one of our volunteers, showing the us her latest projects followed by many of the ladies projects.

This is Allison who comes to volunteer.

This is Stephanie. She brought a ball of bits and pieces of yarn and some projects she made from it. Several of the ladies are making their own. What a great way to use tiny pieces of yarn.

July 10, 2009 & Pet Therapy Visit

We had our pet therapy visit this month and our ongoing service project is making blankets for the dogs and cats at the SPCA. Kristen from Pals for Life gets them to the animals in need for us. Kristen brought kittens she is fostering (with traumatic pasts) and our whole group helped hold them to get them used to kind hands. She also brought Mikey, a therapy dog, who always loves modeling a newly knitted or crocheted blanket. Are they so cute?!!!

Here are two newly completed handbags.

And Leslie, one of our volunteers, just finished a sweater.

And she is showing the ladies a blanket she finished.

Heather, who only has two more Fridays with us, is finishing her bathing suit cover up.

Lynn, who works here, is always having fun with new projects. She is showing us her twirley scarves.

A new knitter is starting a scarf. Her grandmother taught her a long time ago and it came back to her.

She finished her blanket.

This is a first project. She is also making balls of colorful yarn from bits and pieces of yarn tied together.
