Our intern who just started is now a Knitter!

Lucia finished her sweater!

Toby modeling a scarf and a felted handbag that I finally fnished.

Here she is! So proud of the beautiful scarves she created above and below. She learned a new stitch from Leslie. Cast on an odd number and k1,yo,k2tog,yo,k2tog,yo to the end.

This is bamboo yarn from southwest trading company (above).

Zelphia made a beautiful shrug with recycled silk.
Our client just started last week and she is doing hats and scarves!
Jeannie came to teach the ladies a hat pattern on circular needles. She is modelling a scarf she made.

A teddy bear in progress on top of scarves and a knitted blanket.

The word of the day: HATS!

Jeannie came out to teach the ladies how to knit hats. Just about everyone seemed to want to learn how to knit a hat on circular needles. We went around the group circle showing what everyone is working on.

Thanks to all who brought yarn to us. I hope you see some of it being used in some of the photos I have captured. There is much more knitting going on than I can photograph.

We are working on special projects for families in crisis and they are looking for small knitted toys!

this is a new stitch that was taught at the knit out. it is crocheted rows.

Leslie our volunteer is showing the clients a scarf in progress.

Words of the Weeks: The Knit Out was Great!

The Knit Out in Center City was a great experience. We all learned something new: new crochet stitches, how to cast on, how to knit, how to bind off, how to crochet, how to make crocheted flowers. I am displaying some of the projects made since the knit out. Thanks to Gwen Agard and all of the volunteers for putting this wonderful event on. Besides working on warm hats and scarves for themselves and their families the women are also going to participate in the Annual Warmth in Winter Holiday Drive which needs hats and scarves for children in Philadelphia and Urban Genesis which provides comfort items to children in stressful situations and these items include teddy bears and blankets.

Short rows! She's got it!!!

Zelphia is showing the ladies how she made her circular shawl and the steps leading to it.

The word for the day: Philadelphia Knit Out

We had a really nice time last year and are going again. The ladies in residential have not been there before but our volunteer graduates who were here last year are going and might even be volunteers at the Knit Out this year. We who have been there are trying to explain to those who haven't what it is all about.
