Sept 12 & Sept 19 - two weeks together

Last week passed and I realized I didn't get the photos on (oh no!!!) so we have two weeks combined. Many of our new clients are now knitters who can easily cast on, bind off, and we are working on purling. Here are some of our projects.

First Some of Our Wonderful Volunteers:
Above: Linda, below: Jean, Linda and Zelphia. They teach us so much each week!
We had visitors from Scotland. We loved hearing their accent (they think we have the accent) and learning about Scotland. Our visitor showed us how to weave ribbon through a scarf making it more fancy! They also helped teach the ladies to knit.

Here are some blankets in progress this week.

We are still felting handbags!

This is a project Lucia, our volunteer, is working on.

Leslie is knitting/crocheting a scarf made of flowers.
Below: zelphia is now making socks inspired by our socklady.
our knitter is making a log cabin blanket.
The following two projects are by our socklady. She has taken a sock break this week. the scarf below will have a zipper.
Below this project can be worn either up or down, down turns into a cowl neck, up more a turtle neck. we will model it when it is done! Hard to visualize.

Below: one of our intern's learning to knit!
Below: she just got the hang of scarf knitting.

This is before and after of a felted bag.

Our intern's scarf is growing longer.

This is a pillow for a son.
Hre is an unfelted bag for a little girl.
Linda, our nurse, is working on socks.
This baby blanket has a baby's footprint knitted in if you can see it.

One of our ladies is getting started on her holiday gifts with mitten knitting.

September 5, 2008

My little friend keeps sitting on the blanket as I try to sew together the squares. He is getting ready for Halloween modeling his devil ears! Below is the blanket that we are working on. We are knitting squares to be sewn together for our coworker's little boy. We want it to be colorful with a lot of textures.
Happy Birthday Lucia, our volunteer! We caught her by surprise. As she walked in everyone sang Happy Birthday!

Look at how nice this blanket is turning out in shades of brown and beige. Below: we have lots of new knitters. I wish I could show you the smiles when a new knitter realizes she "got it."

Above and below: this lady has only been here a week. I just taught her to cast on and bind off. Yeaaaa!

Above and below: Our handbag gallery!

Above: Linda is knitting a shrug. below: one of the ladies has combined red and black yarns.

Above our lady who is making many scarves. Below: our everything blanket. She doesn't want to end it! It is so beautiful in shades of red.

Our very own outpatient client, our "socklady", is teaching our nurse, Linda, how to knit socks. Above, Linda's first sock, is just a little off. But she did it! double pointed needles, Yeaaa!
After the "odd looking sock" this photo shows she is on her way.
Zelphia, our volunteer, is showing the ladies short rows. Maybe someone will be inspired to try it.

This is a poncho half done in homespun. Below: Leslie, our volunteer, is knitting childrens' sweaters.

Above: the elizabeth zimmerman baby surprise jacket got buttons. Below our new knitter making scarves.
Below: this lady is working on log cabin knitting~

This is the area outside of my office. We call it the Knitting Museum. I have hanging lots of different items that have been knitted as a way to inspire our knitters.
