February 27, 2009

I again had trouble with my camera this week - I missed taking photos of some beautiful projects. We received a book for our program to use with a wonderful message from Cheryl Brunette, the author of the book. I am sure that we will make good use of all of the information in the book as we become more experienced knitters. One of our ladies is working on a sweater right now! We all thank you Cheryl for all of the great information and the wonderful message:
"I rejoice with you to be a part of a group that comes together to work with their hands."

Below: a blanket of many yarns.

Above: our sweater (aka socklady) lady took some time off from her sweater knitting and worked on a lighter project. Below: a little drawstring bag.

Below: this is the bohemian scarf where you unravel the stitches down the sides to make fringe up and down. It looks way harder than it is!

Leslie our volunteer is showing the clients a sweater she finished while she was away on vacation.

Above: a first scarf by a new knitter. I love seeing first projects and the pride in the new knitter's eyes believing that they can do it!
And, finally, this is Iris Opal, a dog rescued from a puppy mill that was shut down. We are waiting to see the sweaters that her new mom will be knitting for her. And speaking of knitting sweaters for people and dogs, we also have pet therapy here at Interim House where our knitting can help out as well. Kristin (Pals for Life) and Erica (therapy dog owner) came with a kitten, bunny, and dog. We have a plan to make some blankets and cat toys for the animals.
